Unfortunately, the start of menopause can come with a few not-so-fun symptoms like hot flashes, vaginal dryness, insomnia and mood swings. The good news is a lot of women only have subtle symptoms. Or better yet, they don’t experience any at all!

They can be as simple as a change in diet or doing some exercise, or it could require medical treatment involving hormone replacement. Every woman experiences menopause differently due to the genes they inherited and their lifestyle. So it’s important to talk to a doctor about what’s best for you when the time comes.
When will menopause happen?
Your cycle will probably be similar to your mother’s, but based on averages, you can expect to notice irregularities in your menstrual cycle in your 40s and have your last menstrual period at around age 52. You may have heard that the age of puberty has gotten younger lately, and you heard correctly! But the average age of menopause has steadily remained at 52. Some women even have regular menstrual periods until their late 50s, but it’s pretty unlikely.
More serious health risks with menopause.
Unfortunately, with menopause comes estrogen depletion, which could lead to more serious health risks. Talk to your doctor about osteoporosis (bone loss) and heart disease to learn preventative measures.
